- Pace of Play: Slow! OH. So. SLOW!
I like the design okay. It’s a typical mountain course with typically narrow fairways in places. The conditions were okay, the greens were very slow and rough in spots due to them getting punched a couple of weeks ago. The staff were fine. Neither overly friendly nor sour. I asked a couple of question in the clubhouse and was given curt but not unfriendly responses. The Marshall doesn’t seem to know how to push slow groups though! Do any of them?!? I was playing on a paid round, at that price, I’d play here every week. But, to drive down and then pay around $45 with a cart, I’d say, nah. Played it once…what’s next? My phone was nearly dead when I started my round so I didn’t keep it stored in my golf app. I shot a sloppy 82. I still can’t seem to figure out my driver. I spent all winter hitting balls at Toad’s and I think the tinkering hurt rather than helped. Sigh. This game. Such a fickle mistress. To hell with you Johnny and you’re truism, “you like this game ’cause you’ll never perfect it.”
