— Not counted in TCS™, but just as important (imo):
- Pace of Play: Slow, painfully slow!
I embarked on my Dubsdread round shortly after putting my entire family on a plane, their last plane from the Midwest to SLC. So, in my slightly morose mood I teed off.
The layout does deserve accolades; but, I am with Lefty, the rough is too long for an average weekend round and the bunkering around the greens is…overkill. Just IMO.
I thought the conditions were pretty rough and choppy given the caliber of golf that is supposed to be served up here. However, the staff were very nice, BUT they need marshals out there to keep people on pace. I am so sO SO tired of foursomes reading every putt, every missed put, and then spending 10-min in the weeds looking for lost balls. I can’t remember the last time I saw a marshal push to keep pace. I think clubs are afraid to lose customers, with golf shrinking, the bravery to keep golf moving is shrinking as well.
If you are in the area it’s worth a go, but I found Glen Club (which I played the next morning) a much better and more satisfying round of golf.
Oh, and don’t mistake the TCS for a reflection of a bad round. I played really well. For instance, I will never forget holing out a 107-yard eagle on 13: LINK
