Commentary:
This is a a very well maintained course, and the layout is pretty interesting. I don’t think the layout beats Tullymore and I felt Black Lake was pretty similar, though not as long. Forest Dunes is also very popular which makes it quite slow. The starter suggested we go off the back, which we did. As we were nearing the turn he came around and assured us we would have clear sailing to start the front. When we got to the front they had just sent two groups of 4. The first 4-some was moving pretty good, but the last group was moving very slow (we could see all of this from 18 and 19). We decided to shoot around both groups and start the front on 3. We then came around and played 1 and 2 at the very end. I don’t like playing a course like this, and if I get too messed up on hole order I don’t keep my score using my phone app. So no link, but I shot around 87. No. 2 was my 40th hole of play that day so I was pretty tired when we finished.
True to the logo a family of deer said goodbye to us on the final hole we played. In fact, they were in the middle of the fairway about 300-yards out. I aimed right at them, rolled it up under their feet and one proceeded to chase and nose my ball. An interesting finish to a nice day of golf.
