Update (26 Sept. 2013): Played a round here with Doug: LINK
Pre Doug round commentary:
Both times I have played I have played from the tips. It is safe to say I have seen all of this course, twice.
I played here again with Pren, Shon, Eddie, and Larry. Played for free the second time using my (hacked) birthday round certificate.
Staff is hit or miss out there. We had tee times at 2PM. They had a league going off the back 9 at 4:30, so with that in mind why didn’t they send us off the back first?! Stupid! We got to the turn and a bunch of groups are waiting on 10. Thankfully the league PLAYERS let us work in, but we were still stuck behind a group of 4 reading every putt, and duffing it as often as not. Sigh!
This course is truly awesome! But, the customer service is lacking in my opinion.
This time on 18: 1 Ball, 300-yard drive to the trap inside the 100 yard marker. Hit a gap wedge out of the trap about 90-yards to the front edge of the green (one of my best fairway bunker “outs” in recent memory), bumped it to about 4-feet of the hole, and 1-putted for par. Nice ending. See picture below, drive = red, wedge = green:

Comments from June 20, 2013:
Finally got to play Rock Hollow this past week. I have been waiting to play this track for well over two seasons now. I have hounded my local bunch of playing mates relentlessly to go, but they have put me off for two+ seasons. I was about to go it solo (like I did with Purgatory) until I met Shon, Pren, and L.C. on Ackerman at Purdue.
Pren and Shon hit me up to go play about a week after playing 9 with them at Purdue, I suggested Rock Hollow because it has been on my mind. Neither of them had played it before. I told them it was in Peru, about an hour from the GLA, undeterred they said, “let’s do it.” They even offered to give me a ride, which I took them up on. Sheesh, here it is two guys I just met willing to ride with me in a car for about 2 hours after only knowing me for a VERY short time. These guys are now officially my heroes!
I played pretty well up until the last two holes. On 17 I caught the long sand trap after catching the edge of a tree branch, couldn’t get out on my first try (went about 30-yards forward and was still in the trap short and to the right of the green).
After getting rattled on 17 I was all “up in my head” and skipped one across the pond on 18. Sigh.
But, I found the course to be nothing short of amazing! My favorite track in Indiana so far. Forgot my nice camera and my cell is currently struggling. I will post more pictures as soon as I go back, which I hope will be soon.
