Commentary:

Layout: The layout is much more interesting and felt more groomed than the Valley course. I actually really liked the sculpture of these holes around the Alabama countryside. Well deserved 9/10. My favorite hole is the one pictured, I think. Just lovely.

Conditions: Much better than the Valley. Closer to the experience I had in the morning at Ross Bridge. 8/10 here.

The Staff: Everyone is nice here. It’s Alabama, everyone seems to be above average nice in this state! Yayyy ‘bama!

Value: This round was $50, and I got 18 in despite the doubt from the guy in the pro-shop. If it was another $110+ values stays at an 8/10, but if you can sneak out like I did 10/10.

This was my third round of 18 of my day (of 54 holes for the day, easily the most I’ve ever played in one day). I re-rounded off the Valley course. Walked into the pro-shop and asked, “Do you think I’ve got time to play 18?” They said, “no, unlikely, so I’ll ring you up for 9 and just play as many as you can.” I said great and got rung up for $50. Changed out my cart and headed straight to the starter. There were two of them chatting there and were surprised I was going back for more. We chatted Alabama golf and they told me I was in for a good time tomorrow at Farm Links. They said go down to the #1 tee and see what the started there says. I went down and an Asian couple (of self-proclaimed beginners) rolled up right behind me. The starter seemed somewhat confused (hehe, I just dropped into the mix), but I told him I play very fast and would get out of the way. He said, “Okay, go, no one has gone off for about 45-min.” I teed off a 285 drive right in the center (I was quite warmed up by this time) and shot out of there. A chip + two puts and I was off #1 in about 5min, tops. Started the day at 7AM on #1 at Ross Bridge and ended the day about approx 7:30PM on Oxmoor Ridge (with a Valley squeezed in the middle).

Scorecard: Rallied on the front 9 here, but started to really feel the 54 holes of the day on the back 9. Ended the day a legit 3 over, I didn’t have time (or energy) for mulligans or extra balls. What you see here is what I shot: LINK

Here is a rubric for how I would interpret the TCS™

10 – Simply amazing, go play this a.s.a.p.! Are you on your way?!
9 – One of the best, just not spot on "perfect" in every way. Play It!
8 – One of the best courses in the area; well worth the trip to play.
7 – Worth a round if you are within a reasonable distance. Good conditions and interesting layout.
6 – An above average course that is worth your time if you're close by. Should provide a nice round.
5 – An average course. Decent layout, decent conditions, and the value hits the sweet spot. The one to play after work for a quick round. However, it lacks an overall wow factor.
4 – Below average, but moderately interesting in places.
3 – A poor course. Conditions are pretty bad but the cost of a round usually outweighs the conditions. Play with your friends who are too cheap to pay for a better round of golf.
2 – Bad, but playable. Play it when you need some practice before spending $$$ on a "better" course.
1 – A very bad course, but often has a deal you can't pass up (e.g., I have played a few like this; got 18 and a cart for only $5, yeah, I'd play about anything for that too).
0 – The only way I'd "play" this course if it was in my backyard and it was free. I mean who turns down a free "driving range" which is all that this "course" is good for, not for golf but to hit balls at and forget about.
