Commentary:
The layout is very nice, challenging, but fair. The conditions were near perfect, but similar to Bethpage there were a lot of maintenance crew out trimming, watering, and even cutting out some trees. I ding the condition rating one point for all of the prep happening during regular play. At times it was quite noisy with all of the work. At least these maintenance workers were more respectful to play and kept out of the way when groups came through, which was often and steady at this very busy Muni.
The staff were nice enough and the value is high given the caliber of golf, especially if you are a local paying approx $50 for a round (which I am not, so I paid about $150).
The foursome I was in consisted of: a father and son (Jim and Clark) and an Eastern European gentleman now living in San Fran (Elmer, not sure on spelling). Clark was a pretty good stick, out driving me at least half of the time making me work for my round. I enjoyed the challenge.
