View the BlueprintWe are heading north to tackle the crown jewels of Canadian mountain golf. Massive elevation drops, towering limestone peaks, and iconic Stanley Thompson architecture. The best part? We are dodging the $1,000/night resort fees. We’ll establish an Airbnb basecamp in Canmore, split the costs, load up the SUV, and play world-class public-access resort golf on our own terms.
This isn’t just a casual hit-and-giggle weekend; we are playing for hardware. The format will be a 3-day cumulative Stableford (so one blown-up hole in the canyon doesn’t ruin your entire trip).
The winner takes home The Gauntlet Trophy—a highly unnecessary, custom piece of hardware that is currently classified and will be revealed at a later date. No cash penalties, no forcing the loser to buy steaks. Just pure, unadulterated bragging rights.
The Flight: 9:25 AM Delta Nonstop (SLC → YYC).
We land in Calgary just before noon. Grab the rental SUV, drive 75 mins west into the mountains, and check into our Canmore Airbnb hub. Hit a local brewery and prep for the gauntlet.
Morning: Silvertip Resort. Insane elevation changes with the Three Sisters mountains as the backdrop.
Afternoon: Fairmont Banff Springs. The 1928 Stanley Thompson masterpiece beneath Mount Rundle. (Sun doesn't set until 9:30 PM, we have plenty of daylight).
Check out of Canmore. Drive 2 hours south through Kootenay National Park to play Greywolf. We take our shots at the famous 6th hole "Cliffhanger," then drive north to crash in Lake Louise.
* Yes, you actually have to hit that green.
Wake up and drive the legendary Icefields Parkway to Jasper. Play Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge in the afternoon to finish the run. Spend our final night hanging on the massive patio overlooking Lac Beauvert.
The Flight: 1:35 PM Delta Nonstop (YYC → SLC).
Wake up in Jasper, grab coffee, and make the 5-hour drive straight south to Calgary Airport. We drop the SUV, clear customs, and are back on the ground in Salt Lake City by 4:00 PM.
